If you're in an office and your Mac's host name seems to change randomly or daily, it's probably DHCP assigning you a different name.
You can lock your host name using this Terminal command:
sudo scutil --set HostName <your-hostname-here>
This should take effect immediately.
I'm beginning to think that, while cloud computing, smart phones, and tablets may be Web 3.0, we're about to see a big backlash due to cloud security breaches (Sony, Dropbox, State of Texas, etc.), poor handling of Copyright issues (TwitPic, Dropbox, etc.), and Gov't overreach (FBI resources dedicated to copyright infringement enforcement, degradation of Fourth Amendment rights). Will this be the Second Coming of Desktop Computing?
